Alpine Status high-resolution centralized power plant

Alpine's Status System components will play your high-resolution music files with incredible high-quality, studio-level purity and sonic fidelity, with a stereo image that'll leave you breathless — almost as if musicians are playing inside your car. The HDA-V90 five-channel amplifier produces 75 watts RMS to each of your front and rear car speakers, and up to 500 watts RMS to a subwoofer, powering your vehicle's entire system from one neat chassis. For a more powerful hi-res front soundstage setup (with no power for rear-fill speakers), you can use the amp in 3-channel mode to drive a couple of high-performance components with 200 watts RMS each, plus a sub with 500 watts.

Hidden controls and plug-in connectors

The amp's tuning controls sit protected under a removable top panel. Adjustable high-pass, low-pass, subsonic, and bass boost controls shape the amplified signal to match your particular speakers and subs, so they sound their best. All connections are on one side of the amp, with nifty speaker and power wire plugs, making the amp easy to install or remove while ensuring tight, noise-free connections. There's also a provision for adding an optional wired remote level control so you can tweak your sub's volume from the front seat.

Features

Design: The Alpine HDA-V90 is a 5-channel amplifier, with four full range channels and one dedicated subwoofer channel. Both pair of full range channels are bridgeable, so the amp can also be configured for 4-channel or 3-channel operation. It is stable down to 2Ω in stereo, and 4Ω when bridged.

Class D Amplifier Design: The amplifier design is Class D, which uses digital switching power supplies. The result is the amplifier runs more efficiently, generating less heat than Class AB amps. The Class D design also allows the amplifier to be built on a small chassis, and installed where space is limited.

Power Specifications:

  • Full Range Channels:
    • 4Ω: 75 watts RMS x 4
    • 2Ω: 100 watts RMS x 4
    • Bridged: 200 watts RMS x 2
  • Subwoofer Channel:
    • 4Ω: 300 watts RMS x 1
    • 2Ω: 500 watts RMS x 1

Ultra-Wide Frequency Response: The Alpine HDA-V90 offers a super-wide, frequency range for unparalleled sound quality and detail:

  • +0/-3 dB (1W into 4Ω): 10 Hz - 60 kHz (Channels 1/2/3/4) and 8 Hz - 400 Hz (Subwoofer)
  • +0/-1 dB (1W into 4Ω): 15 Hz - 30 kHz (Channels 1/2/3/4) and 10 Hz - 300 Hz (Subwoofer)

Hidden Controls: All the amplifier's audio controls are hidden under a removable top panel:

  • Input Channel:
    • Channels 3/4: 2-position switch; choose 1/2 (the channel 1/2 inputs are copied to channels 3/4), 3/4 (dedicated front and rear inputs)
    • Sub: 2-position switch; choose 1+2+3+4 (all the full range channel inputs are summed), Sub (the dedicated sub input is used)
  • Gain: independent rotary gain controls for the front (1/2), rear (3/4), and Sub channels
  • Crossovers: separate crossover controls for the front, rear, and sub channels
    • Front and Rear: the front and rear crossover controls are identical
      • HP Filter: 2-position switch; turn the high pass filter on/off
      • Frequency: rotary control; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz; 12 dB/octave slope
    • Sub:
      • LP Filter: rotary frequency control; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz; 24 dB/octave slope; the low pass filter is always engaged (it cannot be bypassed)
      • Sub Sonic: rotary frequency control; variable from 8 Hz to 40 Hz; 24 dB/octave slope; used to remove extremely low frequencies that can't be cleanly reproduced by the subwoofer
  • Bass EQ: increase the subwoofer channel bass level between 0dB and +12dB via the rotary control; centered at 50 Hz

Optional Remote Bass Control: The amplifier has an RJ-25 modular jack for adding an optional wired remote to control the bass output level, RUX-KNOB.2 or RUX-H01, both sold separately. Both have a 20dB adjustment range.

Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side.

Quick Connect Plugs: The Alpine Status series amplifiers use quick connect plugs to attach your system's speaker wires and power cables to the amp for a simple, error-free installation. The quick connect plugs have set screw terminals that are tightened/loosened using the supplied hex wrenches. The power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are made to a single quick connect plug. The power and ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge (recommended) wire, while the remote terminal will accept up to 12-gauge. There are three quick connect plugs for connecting the front, rear, and subwoofer speaker wires. The subwoofer plug has terminals for two speakers which allows you to easily connect two subwoofers or a single dual voice coil sub. The speaker terminals will accept up to 12-gauge wire.

Audio Input: There are three pair of RCA jacks for connecting low-level or high-level input signals. If connecting the source unit's speaker wire to the input jacks, you can use a Speaker-to-RCA adapter or splice an RCA plug onto the speaker wire. When using a high-level input signal, it may not be necessary to connect a remote turn-on lead because of the amplifier's remote sensing function.

Input Level: There is a 2-position switch to choose the input level range for the RCA inputs; High (full range channels: 500 mV-10 V / Sub channel: 400 mV-10 V) or Low (full range channels: 200 mV-4 V / Sub channel: 100 mV-4 V).

Fuses: The amp is equipped with three 30-amp ATO fuses; a 90-amp (minimum) external fuse should be placed on the +12V power wire within 18" of the battery.
