Alpine designed its Status System components for high-resolution audio playback. Their Status Series digital receiver, amp, speakers, and subs were designed to work together and play your 192kHz/24bit digital music streaming files with high-quality, studio-level purity and sonic fidelity.
Your car's multi-speaker high-resolution audio system needs lots of power and precise tuning to sound its best — and Alpine's HDP-D90 Status Series amplifier and digital processor provide it with stylish good looks plus practical integration and fine-tuning features. You won't believe how many more details you'll hear that were missing in your music before installing this amplifier, thanks to its high-fidelity digital inputs and sound processing.
The amp provides eight output channels of 50 watts RMS each, plus four channels of 80 watts RMS each — each with a wide, high-definition frequency response that improves your music's realism and presence. It's perfect for powering front tweeters, midrange, and mid-bass components, rear full-range speakers, plus a couple of subwoofers from bridged channels — or whatever other combinations you can dream up.
If you're leaving the factory stereo intact, all the audio functions that were available in your system will still work after upgrading the power of each individual speaker by routing the factory signals through the amplifier. The HDP-D90 can handle pre-processed factory signals up to 80 watts per channel, so even your vehicle's premium amplified system can be upgraded without losing features.
The HDP-D90 features 14 channels of digital sound processing (DSP) controlled by Alpine's HDP DSP tuning app running on your laptop or PC, or their HDP-D90 mobile phone tuning app via Bluetooth® connection to your device. Each channel features sophisticated sound controls, including a 31-band EQ, a wide variety of crossover filters, phase control, and time delay.

Overview: The Alpine HDP-D90 Hi-Resolution Digital Sound Processor/Amplifier lets you integrate aftermarket amplifiers and speakers into your vehicle without replacing the factory headunit. The processor/amplifier can also be used with any aftermarket head unit. The HDP-D90 features 10-band parametric or graphic EQ on each input channel and 31-band parametric or graphic EQ on each output. Combined with high- and low-pass filters as well as time correction for each channel, the HDP-D90 offers unprecedented tone shaping control. The Alpine processor features 12-channels of high-level input from your factory or aftermarket head unit, along with 2-channels via RCA, Optical, or Coax digital inputs. Outputs include 10 preamp outputs and 12 amplified outputs, all assignable via a mixing matrix. The HDP-D90 can connect to a Windows PC via USB for making all of your adjustments. A Bluetooth adapter is included for streaming Bluetooth audio to the HDP-D90.
Note: The Alpine HDP-D90 requires a 4 AWG amplifier wiring kit which must be purchased separately.
Inputs: The Alpine processor features 14 speaker-level inputs that can accept either low-level signals up to 8V or high-level signals up to 26V. In addition, the HDP-D90 includes an additional 2 input channels via a pair of RCA jacks, optical (Toslink), and a coaxial (RCA) S/PDIF digital input, letting you play music from an in-vehicle CD or DVD player. An included external Bluetooth module lets you stream audio from your smartphone or tablet. The RCA, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth inputs can be blended in with the output signal via a Mix page in the PC Software. These range from a simple 2-channel input all the way up to more complex 14-channel input configurations, allowing individual tweeter, midrange, and woofer inputs to be matrixed to any of the outputs. Input channels can be Linked together when using stereo inputs, allowing channel settings to be applied to both simultaneously.
Outputs: The HDP-D90 includes 10 pre-amp level output channels for running to outboard amplifiers (sold separately). Twelve high-level outputs can provide the following output power to your speakers (rated @ 4-ohms, 14.4V, 10% THD):
Processing: The HDP-D90 features a sampling rate of 192kHz/32-bit for internal signal processing, and 192kHz/24-bit Hi-Res audio playback resolution. The processor/amplifier also has a S/N ratio of >110dB with <0.001% THD, and ultra-wide internal audio processing bandwidth of 10Hz-110kHz (output frequency response is 20Hz-40kHz).
User Interface Options: The Alpine HDP-D90 Digital Sound Processor can be controlled two different ways:
Equalization: The HDP-D90 features 10-bands of graphic or parametric EQ for each input channel, and 31-bands of graphic or parametric EQ per output channel.
Crossovers: Each input and output channel is equipped with independent high- and low-pass filters. Bandpass filters can also be configured. For each channel, you can select the type of filter - Butterworth, Linkwitz-Riley, or Bessel. Crossover points are fully adjustable from 20Hz to 20kHz in 1Hz increments. You can choose from the following crossover slopes: 6dB, 12dB, 18dB, 24dB, 30dB, 36dB, 42dB, or 48dB per octave.
Time Correction/Phase: The HDP-D90 can apply a wide degree of time correction to each of the 16 output channels, with a delay time ranging from 0.0 to 20 milliseconds. The phase of each output can be set to positive (0°) or inverted (180°).
Built-In RTA: The Alpine HDP-D90 features a built-in RTA (Real-Time Analyzer) that provides a visual representation of the audio input frequency spectrum for each individual channel. The RTA, along with embedded sine wave test signals, lets you address specific frequencies that may need to be lowered or boosted for a balanced frequency response.
Presets: After you have set the EQ frequency, Q-value, and gain data, delay, channel, and phase position settings to your liking, you can save them to one of up to 6 different sound Presets. This allows you to make different sound settings for each input type or music genre. Presets can be quickly selected using the PC software or using an optional Alpine HDS-990 Digital Media Player or RUX-810 controller (both sold separately).
Auto Turn-On: The Alpine HDP-D90 can use a high-level signal on the input wires to power the processor/amplifier on and off. In addition, a Remote In terminal can be used to activate the unit from a remote output on an aftermarket headunit. A corresponding 2-way slide-switch (ACC/HOST) determines the turn-on method. The HDP-D90 also includes a Remote Out wire on the speaker-level input harness that can be used to activate additional outboard amplifiers. The Remote Out wire can provide 200mA of current; if multiple amplifiers will be connected, a 12V relay may be required to step up the current and is sold separately.
Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The HDP-D90 includes a Bluetooth audio streaming module, with attached 6" cable, that lets you stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the processor/amplifier.
Note: The Alpine HDP-D90 does not support Bluetooth hands-free phone calls.
Input Connections:
Note: Only one digital input (optical or coax) can be used at a time.
