Alpine designed its Status System components for high-resolution audio playback. Their Status Series digital receiver, amp, speakers, and subs were designed to work together and play your 192kHz/24bit digital music streaming files with high-quality, studio-level purity and sonic fidelity.
Alpine crafted their HDZ-653 6-1/2" 3-way component speaker system for listeners in search of excellent audio quality in the car. Using many of the same design and material elements as their flagship F#1 Status speakers, this speaker system optimizes the woofer, midrange driver, tweeter, and crossover for near-perfect sound from premium sources, like high-resolution audio files.
These Status Series speakers make a great addition to any high-powered system, thanks to power-handling up to 100 watts RMS, but you can unlock their full potential by pairing them with Status System components, which Alpine designed with high-resolution audio in mind. Alpine uses a carbon composite woofer cone and midrange driver for consistency across the speaker's ultra-wide frequency range, plus a special double gathered-edge surround, which helps minimize distortion and promote accuracy.

Woofer: Alpine describes the woofer size as 6½, but because they require a larger cutout than a standard 6½ speaker, Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size as 6¾. Please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit.
Cone Material: The same carbon composite cone material is used for the woofers, midrange and tweeters, aiding the smooth transition between the drivers.
Phase Plug: The woofers, midrange and tweeters all use an aluminum phase plug in the center of the cone to help produce a smooth, flat off-axis frequency response by preventing the high frequency sound waves from one side of the cone from interfering with sound waves from the other side of the cone.
Tweeters: Each tweeter is housed in a tuned enclosure and designed to be flush mounted, with the mounting surface sandwiched between the tweeter flange and the threaded mounting ring.

Mounting Depth | 1.425" |
Cutout Diameter | 2.435" |
Frame Diameter | 2.74" |
Midrange: The midrange drivers are not a standard size; they are similar to a 3½, but have a different screw hole pattern. They are top mounted and have these dimensions:
Crossover: The passive crossovers allow some system flexibility; the tweeter output level, midrange output level, and crossover slope are adjustable.
