Extra-loud, realistic bass

If you like your music loud and clear, Alpine's R-Series R2-A150M amplifier is for you. It cleanly reproduces the bass in your music so you can enjoy the enhanced realism you want, even when you're playing high-res music. Alpine has built some of its top-of-the-line amplifier technology into this R2-Series amp, including high-efficiency transformers, premium low-noise custom capacitors, and low-distortion dual "Sierra" feedback/correction circuitry.

How much power?

The R2-A150M mono subwoofer amplifier produces up to 1,500 watts RMS, making it a perfect match for a pair of Alpine's R-Series subwoofers. Advanced Class D amp technology makes this powerful amp small enough to fit almost any location. You can adjust the amp's low-pass filter, bass boost, and subsonic filter to get just the right bass tone. Plus, you can add the optional RUX-KNOB.2 remote bass knob to control your bass from the dash.

Features:

CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring amplifier power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers), with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples).

CTA-2006 Specifications:

  • Power Output: 700 watts RMS x 1 into 4Ω
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 75 dBA (measured at 1 watt into 4Ω)

Other Specifications:

  • Power Output: 1200 watts RMS x 1 into 2Ω, 1500 watts RMS x 1 into 1Ω (14.4 volts, =1.0% THD+N)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 103 dB (at rated power output, 4Ω)

Controls

Gain Control: Use the rotary gain control to match the input signal voltage. The amp will accept line level signals from 0.1 volts to 4.0 volts or speaker level signals from 0.4 volts to 10 volts.

Input Level: Set the input level switch to match the type of input signal used (Hi for speaker level and Lo for line level).

Crossover: The low pass crossover is always engaged. (It cannot be bypassed.) The crossover point is adjustable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz and the slope is 24 dB/octave.

Subsonic Filter: The subsonic filter crossover point is adjustable from Min to 40 Hz and the slope is 24 dB/octave. A subsonic filter removes super-low frequencies that the subwoofer cannot cleanly reproduce.

Bass EQ: The amplifier has a variable Bass EQ circuit (Bass Boost) that raises the level of the amplifier output at 50Hz from 0dB to +12dB.

Turn-On: A 2-way switch determines the activation method for the amplifier; REM, when using a remote turn-on lead from a headunit; DC, the amp is activated by DC voltage when connecting speaker-level inputs.

Optional Remote Control: The amplifier has an RJ-25 jack for adding the optional RUX-KNOB.2 wired remote bass level control. The remote has a 20dB adjustment range (-20 dB to 0 dB relative to the gain setting).

Connections

Power/Ground: Two set-screw terminals connect the power and ground cables. The terminals accept up to 1/0-gauge wire (a 1/0-gauge wiring kit is recommended - sold separately). The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.

Remote Turn-on: The remote turn-on set screw terminal will accept up to 8-gauge wire. The set screw is tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.

Speaker Outputs: The two pair of set-screw terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire. They are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.

Signal Input: The stereo RCA jacks connect to line level or speaker level input signals. If connecting the source unit's speaker wire to the input jacks, use a Speaker-to-RCA adapter or splice speaker wire to an RCA plug. When using speaker level input signals, the amplifier Turn-On switch should be in the DC position for activation.

Pre-Outs: Two RCA output jacks can be used to pass the input signals back out to additional amplifiers. The output signals are unaffected by the amplifier's settings.

Fuses: Six 25-amp ATO fuses protect the amplifier. Another fuse (150-amp minimum) should be placed on the +12V power wire within 18" of the battery.
