At the core of this upgrade is the new Sony STARVIS 2 sensor. This state-of-the-art technology expertly balances light and dark areas in the footage, ensuring crystal clear images regardless of the conditions.
But there's more to the DR970X PLUS than just exceptional image quality. It's a comprehensive package brimming with advanced features. Enjoy the convenience of its parking surveillance mode, effortless app connectivity, and even the option for 4G LTE should you choose to in the future. With integrated 5GHz Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth, this dash cam promises seamless integration and functionality. Moreover, it offers the flexibility to add a secondary rear or interior camera at your convenience, ensuring a no-pressure, customizable experience.
Step into your next journey with the assurance and clarity that comes with the BlackVue DR970X-1CH-PLUS. Read on to uncover more about this remarkable piece of technology.
Sony STARVIS 2 sensor
All DR970X-PLUS front cameras now feature the new STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor, which greatly improves sensitivity in low-light and high-contrast areas.
Fast (f/1.7 aperture) lens
The large aperture lens allows the camera to gather more light compared to the f/2.8 lens of the non plus models, which in turn results in faster shutter speed, allowing for better still frames with minimized blur.
Improved ISP tuning
BlackVue's own refinement to the image sensor processor, enhancing its ability to capture intricate details like license plates in low-light conditions, even when headlights cause reflections on vehicles.
Double the bitrate
The new PLUS models also get a bitrate (depth of information) bump from 25 MB/s to 60 MB/s meaning twice the detail is recorded.
2x the event buffer
The DR970X-PLUS models now feature a 10-second buffer, up from 5 seconds for previous models. Meaning auto event triggers record twice as much.
HEVC/H.265 codec
Higher-efficiency video coding compression algorithm better preserves details and also allows for recording at a higher bitrate.
As seen in the comparison footage, the DR970X-PLUS dash cam sets a new standard in recording quality with its 4K capabilities, significantly boosted by the advanced Sony STARVIS 2 sensor. This sensor plays a pivotal role in enhancing low-light sensitivity and expanding the dynamic range beyond the previous generation. Coupled with a faster f/1.7 aperture lens, it allows more light to enter, sharply capturing details and reducing blur. This results in remarkable clarity in recordings, particularly noticeable in night scenes and high-contrast settings. Additionally, the integration of the HEVC/H.265 codec means recordings are not only of higher quality but also capture every detail with increased bitrate from 25 to 60, ensuring vivid and crisp footage.
The DR970X-1CH-PLUS offers expandability from one recording "channel" to two, just like its predecessors in the DR750X and DR900X series. This latest model includes an extra input port for a secondary camera, giving you the option to use it as a front-only dash cam or to add a rear-facing, interior-facing, or waterproof TRUCK camera at a later time. With this feature, you get the best of both worlds.
Keep in mind that you can only add one additional camera to the DR970X-1CH system, bringing the total to two camera angles. The secondary camera is not included in the base price and is entirely optional.
GPS: While reviewing the footage, you can track the location of your vehicle on a map, and the video can also display your speed as an overlay. If you prefer not to have the speed displayed, you can hide it through the settings.
Wi-Fi: Thanks to its Wi-Fi capabilities, you can effortlessly link your BlackVue dashcam to your smartphone or tablet. Moreover, Wi-Fi connectivity allows the camera to connect to the BlackVue Cloud via any mobile or home Wi-Fi hotspot or router. This connection grants easy access to files and settings.
Optional LTE: For the optimal Cloud experience, you have the option to connect the DR970X-PLUS to the BlackVue Cloud via an LTE connectivity module. The module can be connected via the USB port.
SIM card IS included.
With the optional CM100LTE module, connecting to the cloud 24/7 is effortless. This add-on device links to the DR970X-PLUS front camera through a USB port, enabling a constant internet connection. It also transforms the DR970X-PLUS into a mobile hotspot for up to five devices. Unlike in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspots, this module stays active while parked, making your dash camera accessible from any location worldwide.
By using the included hardwiring kit or the optional B-130X battery pack, you can hardwire the DR970X-PLUS to your vehicle's fuse panel for Parking Surveillance Mode. When the ignition is turned off, the DR970X-PLUS will switch to Parking Mode automatically. There are three variations of Parking Mode available:
Motion Detection: Triggered when the sensor detects movement (marked “P” in the file list).
Impact Detection: Detected by the accelerometer/G-sensor (marked “E” in the file list)
Time Lapse Mode: Records continuously at 1FPS. 1-minute Time lapse Parking Mode video = 30 minutes real time coverage. Impacts initiate a buffered Event video.
The built-in accelerometer (G-sensor) in the DR970X-PLUS can detect abrupt changes in speed or impacts while driving. Similarly, when parked, it can detect any visible movements around your vehicle, and these incidents are automatically labeled and saved. If a cloud connection is established, you can receive alerts and access the clips from both your computer and mobile device.
