The JBL Stage3 968MF 6"x9" (152x230mm) three-way speaker embodies JBL’s legendary sound, delivering powerful audio in the car. The woofer cone is manufactured using a laser-etched tool, features the patented Plus One™ design for increased surface area, and is reinforced with 10% glass fiber to play deeper, more resonant bass. Additionally, the PEI balanced dome tweeter ensures improved sound distribution, resulting in crystal-clear highs and creating an immersive listening experience that elevates your car audio setup. The speaker’s true 4-ohm load design maximizes power output from your head unit or amplifier, compensating for system resistance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, the speakers incorporate post-consumer recycled plastic components, PVC-free wiring, and packaging printed with soy-based inks, thereby minimizing environmental impact. Finally, precise fitment is critical to the success of this speaker family—ensuring seamless integration and consistent acoustic performance across vehicle platforms.

• Plus One™ Woofer Cones: Utilizing HARMAN’s patented Plus One™ cone architecture, the woofer cone extends outward to the basket perimeter. This increases the total surface area by up to 35% over standard 6x9 speakers. The extra surface area boosts low-frequency efficiency, giving you deeper bass extension down to 40Hz without draining extra power.
• Glass-Fiber Infused Polypropylene Matrix: Manufactured using laser-etched precision tooling, the polypropylene cone is infused with 10% glass fiber. This creates an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio, preventing cone distortion when pushed to high volumes and keeping bass transients exceptionally tight.

• Edge-Driven PEI Balanced Dome Tweeters: Crisp, smooth highs are handled by Polyetherimide (PEI) balanced dome tweeters. PEI is structurally rigid and handles thermal stress efficiently, keeping high volumes clear and free of harshness. 
• Integrated Supertweeter: Because it is a true 3-way coaxial system, it integrates a dedicated supertweeter element. This driver broadens high-frequency dispersion patterns, widening the audio "sweet spot" in your car cabin and highlighting intricate details above 10kHz. 

• True 4-Ohm Technology: Mechanically, the speakers have a lower 3-ohm voice coil impedance. However, JBL tunes the system as a "True 4-ohm" load. The lower impedance safely extracts extra wattage out of factory head units or aftermarket amplifiers while simultaneously neutralizing the electrical resistance of thin, small-gauge factory vehicle wiring. 

• Grille-Free Design: Unlike the standard 968M model (which comes packaged with protective steel mesh frames for exposed custom mounts), the 968MF ships without grilles. It comes with hardware, foam gaskets, and logo badges instead. This lowers the price point and keeps the mounting depth perfectly tailored for direct replacement behind factory vehicle panels.
