Unlike traditional subwoofers that require messy adhesives, specialized shops, and days of drying time, this competition-grade kit uses Kicker's bolt-on engineering so you can repair your bass right in the field.
📦 What's Included in the Kit
The kit comes as a single, pre-joined structural unit to guarantee that everything is perfectly aligned:
-
Glass Fiber-Reinforced Cone: The exact square pulp paper cone used on the retail speaker.
-
NBR Rubber Surround: The heavy-duty tall border that controls the extreme forward and backward movement.
-
4-Inch Voice Coil: A massive, high-temperature copper coil pre-wound on an aluminum former.
-
Dual-Spider Suspension: The lower fabric springs that keep the movement straight and true.
-
XS Spacing / Alignment Pins: Specialized metal needles used during install to center the voice coil perfectly inside the magnet.
⚡ Key Features & Upgrades
-
Zero Glue Required: The entire moving assembly bolts directly into the aluminum basket and motor layout.
-
Impedance Swapping Freedom: A major feature of the SoloXS lineup is its structural interchangeability. If your amplifier setup changes, you can install this 1-ohm recone kit into a basket that originally held a 2-ohm cone.
-
Cost-Efficient: Instead of discarding a massive 830-ounce magnet and cast basket assembly, you only buy the parts that actually wear out or burn.
🛠️ Overview of the Recone Process
The installation is straightforward and requires standard tools like a 4mm Allen wrench:
-
Remove Old Hardware: Back out the screws on the top face trim ring and the bolts securing the spider landing down inside the frame.
-
Slide Out Damaged Cone: Pull the old, blown cone assembly straight up and out of the basket basket.
-
Clean the Magnet Gap: Use tape or compressed air to ensure no leftover burnt voice coil debris or dust remains inside the deep magnetic slot.
-
Insert Alignment Pins: Turn the speaker on its side and slide the included alignment pins through the Forced Air Cooling vents on the back of the magnet. This creates a protective, centered wall inside the gap.
-
Drop in the New Kit: Slide the new 52L7XS181RK voice coil right over those alignment pins until it seats flush against the frame.
-
Bolt and Tighten: Fasten the bolts down onto the spider landing using an alternating "X" crisscross pattern to keep the tension even.
- Pull Pins & Finish: Slide the alignment needles out from the back of the speaker, put the top cosmetic trim ring back on, and you are ready to bump again.
