These speakers are designed with a dual-port bass-reflex system to provide not only more bass but also a cleaner bass output than typical speakers of the same size. They allow you to enjoy coherent sound without missing any details and without exaggerated response, offering improved precision and more detail across the entire audio bandwidth. Their efficiency also enables you to enjoy exceptional sound from low-power sources, while their ability to handle high-power head units or small amplifiers ensures versatility.
Pioneer’s OPEN & SMOOTH sound concept ensures a seamless and smooth transition between the midrange and tweeter drivers, delivering a uniform off-axis frequency response. This design is optimized for automotive applications where one or more speakers are often aimed away from the listeners’ ears.
An extremely rigid yet lightweight cone is essential to avoid cone failure and distortion under high power. Pioneer’s IMPP™ composite cones meet this need perfectly. CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) was applied to create a curvilinear cone with varying thicknesses during the injection process, maintaining a balance between lightness (responsiveness) and rigidity (precise audio and tight bass). To further improve this rigidity-to-weight ratio, Pioneer uses an advanced process that integrates different materials, such as carbon and mica, which resonate at different frequencies, creating a perfectly balanced cone across the entire bandwidth.
The stable electrical and mechanical properties over a wide frequency range, as well as the strength-to-weight ratio of these materials, make them perfect for the high-frequency vibrations of the dome. We have also carefully designed these components with a front diffuser to help maintain a perfect audio balance during the transition from on-axis to off-axis listening. This allows for a more balanced sound source between the different audio points in the car.
The Progressive Flex Suspension System (PFSS) effectively supports the voice coil by damping cone vibrations and improving the linearity of sound reproduction. Its soft part ensures smooth movement and clear sound even under high power, while its firmer part controls excessive vibrations and prevents unwanted movements that cause distortion. The goal is simple: to provide all the details of your music while maintaining control during the large excursions generated by the bass.
Avoid messy installations and keep your speaker wiring as clean as possible. These speakers use an in-line crossover design and/or an integrated crossover already installed on the speaker basket. This eliminates the need for a bulky external box typically found with passive crossovers, saving you from having to find extra space for it. Additionally, it removes the need for extra wires going in and out of your door to accommodate a woofer in the door with a matching tweeter on your dash.
